Frieze Music 2010

Friday 15 October will see Hercules and Love Affair perform at Debut, one of London’s most innovative new music spaces, situated under the arches of London Bridge Station.
Telepathe, the avant-pop duo’s debut album, Dance Mother (2009), was produced by TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek and was described by Uncut as one of the New York scene’s ‘most enchanting new records’. A revolving line-up based around the duo Busy Gangnes and Melissa Livaudais, the band combines indie-electro with hiphop. Berlin-based duo Hype Williams and FACT DJs (from Fact Magazine, London) will also play.

Dalton Ghetti creates amazing art on the tips of used pencils

Most of us will agree with the age-old saying that “patience is a virtue.” How many of you, however, would actually hang on for two years and a half to bring a piece of art into existence? Dalton Ghetti, 49, a Bridgeport artist, has spent 25 good years working with a razor blade, a sewing needle and a sculpting knife for carving his unique art on the graphite of pencil.

The artist said: "I don’t make money from it but I would love a gallery owner in England to fly me over and put on a show".

The inclination to fashion something new did not surface all of a sudden. Rather, a childhood hobby evolved into remarkable art with time. You could see, in below images, how he utilizes the leftovers of used graphite pencils to create tiny sculptures. His projects include a line of 26 alphabets, a handsaw, a single rice-grain-sized teardrop for every victim of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and much more...

Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design is widely regarded as one of the leading Art and Design institutions in the world. CSM was formed in 1989 from the merger of Central School of Art and Design, founded in 1896, and Saint Martins School of Art, founded in 1854. Central Saint Martins became a constituent College of the London Institute in 1986, a federal body formed by the Inner London Education Authority to bring together London's art, design, fashion and media schools into a collegiate structure for administrative purposes. The London Institute was granted University status and was renamed University of the Arts London in 2004. The Drama Centre London, founded in 1963, and the Byam Shaw School of Art, founded in 1910, joined Central Saint Martins in 1999 and 2003 as integral schools, maintaining their individual titles and teaching approaches. Central Saint Martins is currently collaborating with the London Studio Centre to develop new courses in dance and related disciplines.

Central Saint Martins remains one of London's most revered art and design institutions, producing some of the most important artists, designers and performers over the last 150 years and has developed an internationally recognised research profile as rated in the Research Assessment Exercise in 2001.The Queen's Anniversary Prize was awarded to Central Saint Martins for its significant contributions to the UK fashion industry and for nurturing the creativity of students in 1998. Central Saint Martins also attained Skillset Media Academy status in 2007, recognising the achievements in the area of media and interactive design.

Central Saint Martins establishes links between artistic practice, leading to research projects and employs graduates onto national and international design consultancy schemes through its Innovation Centre and Design Laboratory. Central Saint Martins has become one of the largest providers of art and design education in the world and has registered museum status for its historical and contemporary collections.

Back to the Future!!!! remastered!!!

We’ve been getting very, very excited about Back to the Future coming back to the cinema.
If you didn’t know, Back to the Future has been completely remastered and to celebrate it’s 25th anniversary, Universal Studios are bringing it back to the cinema. We debuted the HD trailer for it a few weeks ago which you can see below. The movie looks better than ever and we highly recommend that you go and see it while it’s on the big screen.

The movie is also coming to blu ray at the end of October.
